Healing's coach

“I am an Anti-Diet, The Body is Not an Apology coach!”

-Allison

Hi! I am Allison (she/her) and I am here to help!

I am a non-binary, queer human. I have two pups, a husband, and am on a mission to dismantle the patriarchy and the systems that oppress so many humans. Join me!

I have an undergraduate degree in nutrition and a master’s degree in counseling. I have worked in an inpatient and residential treatment setting for eating disorders and as an outpatient therapist as well. I know treating eating disorders involves many complicated (and often insurance-driven non-sensical) layers.  I can navigate everything from starting a treatment team to entering and collaborating with an already existing team to give you the support you feel you are missing. Healing from an eating disorder, body image struggles, and/or getting off the dieting merry-go-round can feel isolating. It does not have to be. Let me help.

My Philosophy

I will always be open about the philosophies in which I am guided by. If you are not there yet, that is okay. We can still work together.

My coaching style and mindset rely on the following: Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size, Anti-Diet, 8 Keys to Recovery, the Body Trust Program, and The Body is Not an Apology. The premise of all of these is that you are human first. We are all different and we all deserve to be radically accepted in the bodies we have. You are not broken, the system is. Some (if not all) of the fears you may be facing about navigating the world in your body are real and scary. I cannot change them, no one can. What you and I can do together is create tools and a safety net for you to navigate this world without feeling the need to shrink yourself to exist in it.

Be Bold! Be Brave! Be You!

My Clients

Do you find yourself googling “Do I have an eating disorder? What is an eating disorder? Binge eating disorder. Signs of an eating disorder. How to lose belly fat. What is my body fat percentage?”

You are my ideal client. You may feel like you aren’t ready for recovery. You want to be “this size” before you begin to allow yourself to eat freely, intuitively eat, or eat “x” again. Maybe. Maybe you are ready NOW to break the chains. Those chains that are telling you to google “healthy eating tips for the summer, holidays, and/or new year”. That curiosity could be enough to break those chains forever and to show up unapologetically yourself from today forward.

Take a second, breathe in and out, and imagine a life where you aren’t waking up immediately fretting about what you are eating today and if the clothes in your closet are going to fit “better” today.

What would that life be like for you? Terrifying and fantastic!

My Passion

I am here after battling my own inner fatphobia and disordered eating lifestyle. I hear you when you say you are on the “pursuit of health”. My experience drove me into isolation and to fearing my own body.

It does not have to be this way.

You can trust your body and, most importantly, your body can trust you.

I have helped organize walks, given speeches at local schools providing psychoeducation on disordered eating, and I have led education groups for parents. I cannot imagine working anywhere else besides in this arena. I believe healing comes from examining the parts of yourself and how they interact in this world.

From there, the world is yours to conquer.
